The number of incubators and accelerators has exploded in Montreal over the past few years. But what about south of Montreal?
Le Garage & Co is set to jump in and pick up the slack for the communities that lie to the south of the St. Lawrence river. Born in Longueuil and already almost a year old, having organized a pitch competition and several events in that time, Le Garage & Co is accepting applications to its inaugural fall incubator session until this Friday at 5 pm.
“We are an incubator/accelerator, the first one to the south of Montreal. We want to position ourselves as a key actor in the development of the entrepreneurial community in the region of Montérégie, focused mostly on entrepreneurs from south of the river, to offer services and support which will be an alternative option of quality instead of going to Montreal. Something very local and in the region,” Casseline Rosello, Communications and Marketing Assistant at Le Garage & Co told MTLinTECH.
Interested applicants should apply online, after which they will be sent an email link to upload a short 90 second video in which to present themselves, their project, their teammates, and how they think Le Garage & Co can help them achieve their project.
“Once we have their video, we will have a small jury with our partners and the members of Le Garage & Co. They’ll take a look at these videos and we will decide which projects we think are the most innovative ones and which ones we will be selecting.”
All sorts of ideas are welcome, as are all business and technology sectors.
“We do not have a very specific type of project we want to work with, the only thing we are trying to get is innovative projects. But innovative is a vast term. It could be innovative in the product itself, but it could also be innovative in the way the business model is built or how they are going to sell. We just want something that’s not like what everybody else does, but that will set the entrepreneur apart from the rest of the competition. We are trying to bring this innovation aspect in the program.”
