Toronto’s Elevate takes over Startup Open House

Toronto’s Elevate tech festival is taking over the controls for Montreal’s Startup Open House.

Elevate, which bills itself as “the world’s fastest growing tech festival,” and Startup Open House, a tech community open house are phrasing the agreement as a joining of forces.

Elevate will now operate Startup Open House with the goal of expanding the community-built event in line with the festival’s mission to promote innovation in the tech ecosystem across Canada. A popular annual event running since 2013, Startup Open House sees startups, scaleups, and innovative organizations open their doors to the public. Job seekers and curious professionals register to visit offices and expand their networks. In 2018, over 10,000 participants and 500 organizations participated.

“Attracting talent, partners, and customers is crucial for the growth of startups, scaleups, and innovation organizations,” said Razor Suleman, Elevate CEO and Cofounder. “Elevate is excited to build on the tremendous success that Startup Open House has created over the past 7 years”. “Startup Open House was built by the Canadian tech community for the
community.”

“Startup Open House is one of the most important annual tech events in Canada, exposing startups coast-to-coast to thousands of new people each year,” said Shopify’s Satish Kanwar, also the Startup Open House Toronto Ambassador. “By opening doors for anyone to learn and connect with these startups at no-cost, the event also helps to level the playing field and celebrate the richness of our ecosystem.”

With Startup Open House, Elevate says it will meet its strategic goals of “building a talent marketplace and enhancing the employer brand for Canada’s tech innovation and ecosystem.”
