An Intro to HTML & CSS @ Concordia University

During this workshop, you will learn the basics of HTML and CSS. HTML is the skeleton of every website on the internet and nearly all websites use CSS for styling. Learning HTML and CSS is the first step toward building a personal website, becoming more technically fluent, or beginning a career in web development or design!

– Structure and syntax of HTML and CSS

– Important CSS properties

Participants will be required to have a computer that can connect to the Internet and run the following software:

System Requirements: MacOS, Linux, or Windows 8 or higher

Please join us for a reception organized by the Women in Machine Learning (WiML) organization. The reception is happening before WiML Workshop 2019 in Vancouver, Canada and takes place at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel (5 minutes walk from workshop venue).

The goal of this event is to bring together workshop attendees from different research areas and across all stages of their careers to meet, find mentorship, and learn from each other. We will have special guests giving remarks about their experience, career path, and unique perspective on the machine learning community.

All genders are welcome. Light appetizers will be served.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes. You are welcome to bring your child. The mother’s room (named: Shaughnessy Salon) is close to the reception room(Pinnacle Ballroom).

The Shaughnessy Salon is located on the 3rd floor Ballroom Level, adjacent to the Pinnacle Ballroom. Please following the directional signage to the Mothers Room.

I have dietary restrictions. Will there be something I can eat?

While we will try our best to accommodate dietary restrictions, we cannot guarantee that every restriction can be accommodated.

I can’t make it anymore. What do I do?

We greatly appreciate you canceling your registration, so that someone else can take your spot. You can cancel by logging onto your EventBrite account on a computer (not mobile).

Is my registration transferable?

We’re not able to manually transfer registrations. Please cancel your registration if you can’t make it anymore.

The TechIdea Pitch Competition is open to any McGill University student team comprised of 2 to 4 members where at least one member is a currently enrolled student, undergraduate or graduate, in McGill’s Faculty of Engineering. Ce que cette séance vous apportera :

À travers cette séance de formation, les participants verront les différentes étapes à suivre pour jeter les bases de leur plan de continuité des activités.

Les participants seront notamment en mesure :

  • de déterminer les risques pouvant affecter l’entreprise et les conséquences qui en découlent;
  • de comprendre les étapes de la planification de la continuité des activités afin d’être en mesure d’amorcer une démarche;
  • de connaître les sources d’information au sujet de la continuité des activités.

Thèmes abordés :

  • Le risque et ses conséquences;
  • Les mesures pouvant être mises en place pour éliminer ou atténuer les risques et conséquences;
  • La gestion de la continuité des activités;

Dans le but d’amener l’entreprise à amorcer sa démarche un pas à la fois, la formation combine des exposés et des exercices simples, efficaces et orientés vers l’action, notamment par le biais :

  • de réflexions individuelles et en groupe;
  • d’auto-évaluation.

Elle propose également deux vidéos d’expériences vécues par les entreprises, pour contribuer de façon concrète à l’apprentissage des participants.
